Antonio Vivaldi: 6 Concerti, Transkriptionen für zwei Cembali (Band I)
Concerto in g RV 517, Concerto in d RV 96, Concerto in e RV 134
ISMN
Transcriptions for two harpsichords by Gwennaëlle Alibert und Clément Geoffroy.
... As lovers of Vivaldi’s music we had been frustrated that none of his music is specifically composed for our instrument and decided to play his works on two harpsichords. The addition of a second harpsichord, rather than merely doubling the expressive powers of the instrument, increases them tenfold, makes the alternation between tutti and solo passages intelligible, enables ‘stereo’ effects and renders an enriched palette of nuances.
Our acquaintance with J. S. Bach’s concertante music was very helpful to us, all the more because the majority of his harpsichord concerti are transcriptions of his own violin concerti, a veritable gold mine of inspiration for such humble arrangers as ourselves! (from the preface)
