François Krafft: 12 Menuette
für Violine oder andere Melodieinstrumente und Basso continuo
ISMN
The 12 Minuets, Augsburg 1758, by François Krafft (Brussels 1729 – Ghent 1795) are written for solo keyboard instrument or for a melody instrument (violin, flute, oboe,…) and basso continuo. For this edition, we opted for the combination of a melody instrument and basso continuo.
The style is pre-classical, elegant and aristocratic. We can safely describe this gallant music as qualitative entertainment music that, requiring no extreme technicality, was intended for both professional and non-professional musicians. To put it in the words of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: “für Kenner und Liebhaber”.
