The professional career of Theodor Schwartzkopff (1659 - 1732) is closely related to the court of Württemberg where he worked as Kapellmeister. This Sonata à 3 is part of the music collection of the Crown Prince Friedrich Ludwig von Württemberg. Although written in French violin clef, stylistically the sonata displays strong Italian influences. As a matter of fact, the sonata could also be played on recorders.
