Johann Sebastian Bach: Concerto nach italienischem Gusto
Arranged for 4 Violins
ISMN
Bach composed the “Concerto in the Italian style“ for solo harpsichord. Many arrangements of this work are available nowadays: as a violin or piano concerto, for oboe or flute concerto, string or wind trio, as a quartet, quintet and jazz piano trio among others. With this publication I venture to add yet another version to the existing ones, in the form of a quartet for four violins.
An ensemble of four violins has a relatively limited range, but also benefits from a brilliant, full and rich sonority which cannot be obtained by a mixed instrumental ensemble. Moreover, an attractive feature of such a homogenous instrumentation is a possible stereo effect resulting from the crossing of identical or similar sounding voices.
