Toshiyuki Bamba: "Odor of time" for two violins
Composed in 1986-1990
I composed “Odor of time" for two violins at the end of my four years period of study in New York and presented it as my degree work.
At that time I lived in the countryside outside of New York City. The inspiration for this composition came to me on a winter's day walk as I reflected on my native Japan: I wanted to imbricate western dynamism and Japanese quietude in the work. (from the prologue by Toshiyuki Bamba)
Odor of time : 1. Wind - 2. Time - 3. Vision - 4. Presentiment
Composed in 1986-1990, New York and Berlin
